· Zinc oxide is a fine, amorphous, white or slightly yellowish powder.
· Indicated as a temporary restorative material, for lining cavities, as a temporary or permanent cement, surgical cement and agent for filling root canals.
Zinc Oxide is generally used in combination with Eugenol, which in the appropriate proportion forms an ideal paste for its intended use. The product is effective and safe for its intended purpose, as long as the instructions for use are followed.
Zinc oxide and eugenol cements are widely used in various dental specialties. In dentistry they are used for cementation and provisional restoration, in periodontics as a surgical periodontal dressing, in endodontics, in root canal filling, among other applications.
· In endodontics, they provide a hermetic seal, preventing microleakage into root canals, aiding the healing of periapical tissues by creating a biologically favorable environment.
